This motif necklace was created to pay tribute to the eternal oneness in all of us. Inspired by matriarchal cultures and natural materials, this pendant can become a kind of talisman of strength and unification for the wearer. The central, decorated figure stands tall and proud, facing outward. She is centered and graceful, the epitome of the realized self.
Our designers have made excellent use of the soft, luxuriant contrast between sterling silver and fossilized ivory in this carved ivory pendant. Fossilized ivory's warm tones are highlighted against sterling silver's moonlight gleam, giving the rich browns and earthy shades added dimension. Our eternal necklace features two fossilized ivory settings in varying shades—a paler hued setting for the face and a richer setting for the figure's embellished upper body.
The fossilized ivory in this pendant is made from walrus ivory tusk, a prized material that is between 500 and 3,000 years old. This ivory has lain buried underground for centuries where minerals color it the earthen shades we see today. Erosion and the tides bring the ivory back to light, and Native peoples gather it for carving, sale, or trade. Fossilized walrus ivory tusk is an important part of their cultural heritage and indigenous culture; it is valued across the world as rare historical accent in fine jewelry and art works.
Our artisans take care to select a paler shade of walrus ivory tusk for the figure's face and a deeper shade for her torso. As fossilized walrus ivory hues do vary, however, the exact colors in your eternal necklace may vary from the colors pictured here.
