Fossilized Walrus Ivory Silver Bee Earrings

In addition to the important part bees play in biodiversity and ecological balance, the bee has been long revered throughout mythology as a symbol of the soul. The bee is a disciplined, diligent worker - sometimes seen alone and at times with other members of the hive. This pair of bees highlights the busy bee hunting for nectar on a sparkling green peridot flower center.

Peridot, a semi-precious stone that is associated with nature by virtue of its fresh green color, is also the stone of harmony and compassion. It is a true stress reliever. Peridot's verdant hue makes it the perfect foil for the fossilized ivory's earthy coloring in these walrus ivory earrings.

The ancient walrus tusk featured in these carved ivory earrings has spent many centuries buried in the earth where it gradually gathered its caramel to cocoa tones. The tides and erosion bring this ancient ivory back to the light where indigenous peoples gather it so it can be hand worked into the carved ivory earrings you see here.

Fossilized walrus ivory is highly prized as a unique material with an age-old history, and it is used the world over in fine jewelry pieces and other art works.
