Dragonflies are wonderful garden companions - they are entertaining fliers, their colors are rainbow gorgeous, they eat mosquitos, and they don't sting. Does it get any better? Our collectible dragonfly, made of fossilized walrus and paua, is set in sterling silver with 14kt gold accents. This symmetrical pendant is accented with a radiant amethyst stone that glistens an alluring lavender color often seen on dragonflies.
The beads that make up the dragonflies body are hand carved from fossilized walrus ivory which is some 300 - 5,000 years old. Our fossilized walrus ivory comes from St. Lawrence Island off the Alaskan coast where the native Inuit collect it for sale, trade, and for carving into art pieces of their own. Fossilized walrus ivory is considered one of the highest quality ancient ivories available for its rich coloring and durability. It tells an ancient story of centuries past, and is a mainstay in our dragonfly jewelry collection.
